Václav Vydra was born into a famous acting family. In 1977, he graduated from the Prague Conservatory and performed in several theater ensembles. From 1979 to 1994, he was a member of the City Theaters of Prague, and since 1995, he has been a member of the Vinohrady Theater.

He is a beloved actor in the theater, film, and television. His filmography includes dozens of film characters. Many of the films in which he played significant roles enjoy considerable popularity and continue to appear on television screens. Some notable ones include S ČERTY NEJSOU ŽERTY, PEKLO S PRINCEZNOU, TANKOVÝ PRAPOR, ČERNÍ BARONI, Z PEKLA ŠTĚSTÍ. In the popular tetralogy KAMEŇÁK, he played the lead role of Pepa Novák.

In addition to KAMEŇÁK series, he appeared in TV series such as NÁVŠTĚVNÍCI, POD HLADINOU, BYLO NÁS PĚT, ZDIVOČELÁ ZEMĚ and HOSPODA.

His voice can be heard in numerous foreign films, and his radio work is also significant. Alongside his wife Jana Boušková, he provides the voice for the television show about amateur cooking called Prostřeno. As an entertainer, he is popular in a variety of entertainment programs.

He is also known as a horse breeder.
