Biography

Author of the legendary Čtyřlístek. He set the stories of four friends - Fifinka, Bobík, PinĎa and Myšpulín - in the picturesque landscape of Lake Mácha with Bezděz Castle. He transformed it into a fairytale world full of fantasy, humour and adventure. By 1969 he had drawn 736 sequels to the Čtyřlístek series, and he has illustrated more than 100 children's books to this day.

In 1990 he founded the private publishing house Čtyřlístek. The well-known comic strip characters of Čtyřlístek also appeared with great success on the postage stamps of the Czech Republic. In 2009, the Čtyřlístek Museum was opened in Třeskoprsky (Doksy). In 2010, the Čtyřlístek figures appeared on the valid coins of the Cook Islands.

Since 2010, he has worked with director Michal Žabka on the artwork for the first animated feature film, Čtyřlístek ve službách krále, which premiered in 2013 and was seen by more than 300,000 children and adults by the end of the year. Then, in 2019, his second animated feature film, Velké dobrodružství Čtyřlístku!, premiered! As he says, he has been preparing the drawings for this film all his life, and by bringing his characters to life on the screen, his biggest dream has come true.
