On television, Canadian born stage and screen actress Torri Higginson has appeared as Dr. Elizabeth Weir in three episodes of STARGATE SG-1 and more than 60 episodes of STARGATE: ATLANTIS, as well as in episodes of N.C.I.S., CRIMINAL MINDS, ELEVENTH HOUR and Stephen King’s STORM OF CENTURY among many others.
Stargate Atlantis is the third TV series Higginson has starred in. Her first was the role of Beth Kittridge in William Shatner’s TEKWAR -TV movies. Then in 2000 she won Canada’s prestigious Gemini Award, for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role for her performance as Katherine Strachan in the hour prime time drama series THE CITY (also titled under DEEP IN THE CITY).
This past year Torri made her LA theatre debut at A Noise Within’s production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Other of her favourite theatre credits include: Beth in Zadies Shoes at the Factory Theatre; Maggie in Mill on the Floss at Soul Pepper Theatre; Jaye in Weldon Rising; C in Three Tall Women at the Grand Theatre; Suzanne in Picasso at the Lapine Agile at MTC and the National; and Bianca in The Taming of The Shrew at the World Stage Festival. As a side note, that was a production that Geraint Wyn Davies was also in and that same year she had appeared as a guest star in his series Forever Knight.
Torri, who studied acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, can also be seen in such films as THE ENGLISH PATIENT, DESPERATE HOURS, L'HISTOIRE DE l'AMOUR, DOUBLE TAKE, AIRBORNE, STONEHENGE APOCALYPSE.
