Biography
MICHAEL WINSLOW (actor; USA)
Guest appearance: Friday 13. March - Saturday 14. March 2026
Michael Winslow is an American actor, comedian, and beatboxer billed as The Man of 10,000 Sound Effects for his ability to make realistic sounds using only his voice. He grew up at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane, and later attended the Lisa Maile School of Acting, Modeling and Imaging.
According to his own account, Winslow had few friends growing up. To pass time, he would imitate the sounds of engines, animals, or anything that made noise. Following high school and college, he performed in nightclubs and theaters, where his sound imitation skills won him positive appraisal and enough money to move to Hollywood.
Since 1980, he has appeared in films in small roles or as a voice actor for animated characters. He broke through to stardom in 1984 with the comedy POLICE ACADEMY, where he portrayed Cadet Larvell Jones, capable of imitating any sound, including a helicopter or machine gun fire, as well as being a skilled karate fighter. Winslow became one of the mainstays of the series and one of only three actors who appeared in all seven films. He also guest-starred in about half of the episodes of the follow-up TV series.
In 1987, Winslow appeared as a radar operator in the movie SPACEBALLS, in which he performs all the sound effects himself during one scene. Mel Brooks stated that, by doing so, Winslow saved the film money. He is also set to appear in the upcoming sequel SPACEBALLS 2.
